Ojai Solar Power: The Thacher School
The Thacher School, a prestigious private boarding school tucked in the mountain valleys near Ojai, decided to go solar in 2016 to help save money and reduce the school's carbon footprint. School officials contacted Sullivan Solar Power, who designed, built and installed a ground-mounted system able to offset 1.4 million pounds of carbon dioxide each year. Nearly 3,000 Kyocera solar panels capture the sun and produce more than 1.2 million kilowatt-hours of clean and renewable energy each year.
On average, each year a solar energy system this size will:
Generate 1,014,209 to 1,352,278 kilowatt hours of clean renewable solar power.
Avoid the creation of 1,676,825 pounds of harmful carbon dioxide released into our air.
Provide the system owner with $297,501 in Solar Power Savings.
